Top Of The AI Class
I’ve talked a lot about the huge money-making and market-moving power behind AI hardware. High-end processors have been the big picks-and-shovels investment of this explosive new tech trend.
Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) has blown up more than anyone, with their powerful “AI chips” driving their stock price up almost 300% over the last year. At a $1.22 trillion valuation, they are now the fifth biggest company in the United States.
Other chip-makers are rushing to get their piece of the AI pie, as Nvidia cannot keep up with the demand for their A100 and H100 processors. The big tech companies developing AI applications are also trying to make their own in-house alternatives.
AI hardware is maybe the biggest business going right now.
But what about software?
If there are so many picks and shovels being sold, there must be a lot of gold somewhere.
RIght?
Well you’d have a hard time finding a software company that’s played artificial intelligence better than Adobe (NASDAQ: ADBE).
The makers of Photoshop have seen their stock increase by 85% over the last year, in large part because of their AI-based improvements and products, such as Adobe Sensei.
After already finding early success with generative AI, it appears that Adobe is ready to go even further after their announcement of the AI-based photo-editing tool they’re calling Project Stardust.
The company announced Project Stardust in a promotion video last week and it appears as though they’ve created a version of Photoshop that does all of the hard work for you.
What previously took years of expertise and hours of work can now be done simply by asking the software to show you what you want to see.
In plain English.
The short promo video features a demonstration of how a person’s outfit can be changed simply by highlighting them in the photo and typing “black jeans”.
There are revolutionary and impressive AI tools being introduced every day, but even the most used and well known examples have not yet succeeded in monetizing their breakthroughs.
Adobe has stood alone in their efforts to make AI easy and appealing to its customers and turning that into profits.
Project Stardust seems to be their next step in being one of the biggest players in AI.
With that, here’s what else I’m looking at this week…
