The Billionaire Space Race Heats Up

Markets are giving back more and more gains recently as we head further into the summer doldrums.

But all the while, we’re seeing some amazing things come out of the tech world…

Including major advances in many different sectors.

Here’s what I’m looking at this week…

  1. Bezos in Space

Tomorrow at 9 a.m. ET, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos will launch himself into the edge of space.

He’ll be promoting his company Blue Origin and their space tourism section just one week after Richard Branson became the first private citizen to go to space in his personally funded rocket.

Bezos wants to outshine Branson’s Virgin Galactic by going higher, faster and further with tomorrow’s event.

And you can watch tomorrow’s action through Blue Origin’s live stream by clicking here.

  1. Netflix Getting Into Gaming?

Rumors are spreading right now that Netflix is going to get into gaming.

Their rumored plan is to partner with Sony’s PlayStation, and it’s backed by some revealing images…

This could be huge for the industry as gaming consoles have become more integrated with different forms of media.

And it looks like Netflix could be the first streaming platform to embrace this new medium…

  1. Sticking It to the Telecoms

We’ve talked a lot about Starlink and internet that’s shot directly to your homes.

But the rollout hasn’t been immediate, and many are still without access to Broadband.

Even in big cities like New York, there are an estimated 1 million residents without access to broadband.

To solve this, one non-profit is looking to install affordable community Wi-Fi that will bring those without broadband reliable internet access.

  1. Testing out the Driverless Taxis

Waymo taxis have popped up in the suburbs of Phoenix, Arizona.

But how exactly are they? And do they feel any different than normal taxis?

Well, some ambitious tech writers sought out to answer those questions…

As they spent two full days taking these driverless Waymo taxis for a spin.

That’s all for today. You can be sure I’ll be watching tomorrow’s launch.

And I’ll be on the lookout for more emerging trends in the tech world.
